Minister’s visit to Butambala highlights Week five of Ggombolola Cup Competitions
The Ggombolola Cup competitions entered the fifth week of competitions with a total of 36 games across 8 counties including Ssingo, Kyaggwe, Butambala, Kyaddondo, Mawokota, Mawogola, Buddu & Bulemeezi where 80 goals were scored by 36 players.
The highlight of the events was the minister’s visit to the county of Butambala where, on top of watching the 01:01 thriller between Ssaabaddu Ngando and Ssaabawaali Bulo, he also visited various youths undertaking economic development projects and also officiated at the swearing in ceremony of new county kingdom youth leaders.
New comers on the block, Mawokota opened their campaign on Saturday in the presence of Oweek. Gabriel Kabonge together with other county leaders with hosts Mumyuka Kammego losing their opener 01-00 to Musaalwe Buwama. Action continued on Sunday with 8 more games.
Mawogola also started their campaign on Sunday in the presence of Oweek. Sserwadda Muhammad the county chief, with three sub-counties of Ssaabaddu Mateete, Musaale Lwebitakuli and Ssaabawaali Mijwala participating in three games. Ssaabawaali Mateete and Ssaabawaali Mijwala manged to qualify to the next level. The next fixture of group B will include; Lwemiyaga, Ntuusi and Lugusuulu and will be playing on 3rd/03/2024.
In other counties, Ssingo played three games and Bulemeezi had four on Friday. Buvuma continued its action on Saturday with Ssaabawaali Bweema taking maximum points after there 2:1 win over Ssaabaddu Busamizi at the Ssaza grounds. Wandera Julius & Mukoko Francis scored Bweema goals for the winners and Balikowa Asman scored the Busamizi goal, Magumba Muhammad of Bweema was declared man of the match. Buddu continued with their fixtures with three games played which included, Kyebe 00 vs 00 Kabira, Kasasa 00 vs 00 Kakuuto, Kyebe 00 vs 00 Kakuuto, Kabira 00 vs 03 Kasasa, Kakuuto 03 vs 00 Kabira & Kasasa 01 vs 00 Kyebe. Two teams (Kasasa and Kakuuto) qualified to the next level.
Week 5 of the competition will have games in 13 counties of Busiro, Buvuma, Buddu, Kyaggwe, Bulemeezi, Kyaddondo, Ssingo, Butambala, Mawokota, Mawogola, Kabula, Buweekula and Buluuli.
